Reading

Decided it’s about time to log what I’m reading.

  1. Taxonomy of Barnacles

Was on the 3-for-2 table at Borders last time I had a gift card, and seemed light and fluffy. It is so far, I feel like it’s trying to reach a little deeper with the nature v nurture debate but gets caught up in its own fluffy crap. OK I’m about half way through, and holy cow I really dislike all of the characters. They’re not very nice people, and I can’t imagine ever wanting to have a conversation with any of them. I keep waiting for them to be nice to each other or someone, but all they do is fight. Grarh.(20Apr)

  2. The Memory Keeper’s Daughter

Wow. so far, it’s just wow. It’s hard to put this book down- the writing is good, and the story is just crazy.

    Started: 26 March, 2007
    Completed: 29 March, 2007

  3. Atlas Shrugged

Barely started- am looking forward to being sucked in. –OMG I am almost finished. seriously, have read approximately 3 pages/day the last 6 days, parts are just too much too slow.OK, I’m done. Confusion is still abounding for parts, but mostly I’m a bit frustrated… I don’t think people can live like AR wants people to… unchecked capitalism is not the solution (although really an interesting idea).

  4. Mirror, Mirror

This Maguire seems a lot more developed than Wicked. Definitely as good, if not better (so far). Still confused by the ending.

    Completed: 21 Dec, 2006

  5. Neuromancer

Seems ok so far? A little far-fetched. I was looking for something as sci-tech as Snow Crash, but I’m not sure it will live up to my expectations. OK it is really not as good, in my opinion, as Snow Crash, but there were parts that were pretty solid. I guess I ended up feeling obligated to read it, it just seemed a little stressed.

  6. Son of a Witch

Good follow-up to Wicked, but honestly follows in having no resolution at all.

    Started: 27 Oct, 2006
    Completed: 3 Nov, 2006

  7. Dupont Circle

Seems like a name-dropper throughout (really to be expected I guess), but the story is good and the telling (excluding namedropping) is lovely.

    Started: 22 Oct, 2006
    Completed: 25 Oct, 2006

  8. Pretty Little Dirty

Seems slightly Cheezy, but maybe good?

  9. GEORGE BUSH, DARK PRINCE OF LOVE: A Presidential Romance

Mildly amusing, chronicles an ex-convict’s blossoming romance for GB. Slightly slow moving, but some hilarious scenes throughout.

    Started: Mid-September 2006
    Completed:14 Oct, 2006
