AB and I went to Belize in April. We went to Caye Caulker, and had one of our best vacations ever. I didn’t wear a watch or look at a clock with more than a mild interest the entire time. We went snorkeling and saw awesome coral formations and some sweet fish, we ate ceviche every day, we drank belizean rum and beers and read and swam and had fun. We were only there a few days, but we are definitely going back. The snorkeling was better than I was expecting, we both pet a sting ray which was smooth but scary, and next time we’re kayaking around the island.

Today it’s about 95 degrees so I came home early to feed Lilahpup icecubes and turn the fans on. Turning on the AC seems excessive in APRIL so we’re waiting this heatwave out. Tomorrow it will be hot, but Wednesday it’s supposed to rain which will cool things down.

Have been spending a lot of time lately with the dog, hanging out because she’s awesome. I didn’t think I’d be one of those pet-parents… You know, the obsessive ones that are worried about ‘tweet widdle baybee iz youse okay’ But that is what having an awesome dog does to you (or maybe just to me), it turns my brain to mush.

Have also been spending a lot of time lately figuring out what trajectory I want to push my life to. I’m not sure I’m happy in Maryland- wait scratch that. I didn’t want to move here to live in suburbia. I love having a dog, but this whole living 30 miles from the metro is bumming me out. I realized yesterday I actually missed the apartment… So, today in between school work I’m trying to figure out a solution to that. Whether the solution is ‘move in to DC when the lease is up’ or ‘suck it up and try not to be lame, maybe we’ll move in a while’ I’m not sure.

Also excited about upcoming holidays- AB and I are hosting Thxgiving which should be fun. I think we’re going to go buy a turkey this weekend so we have one all ready to go. Only two weeks out. I need to spend tomorrow figuring out if I am going to be awesome and make homemade rolls or if I am going to be lame and use store-bought rolls. Christmas should be good, too, Omaha/CB with sprinklings of IC and KC, weather pending.

OK, back to schoolwork of the day… slight grumblings in my head, enhanced by the lack of diet coke in my fridge. Cherry coke zero is a poor substitute, but a substitute still.

Wow so the election prep is going a little insane lately, I mean Sarah Palin? People actually think that that was a good choice?!? I have avoided calling a certain set of people, mostly relatives, so that conversation doesn’t drift anywhere near the election/politics as a whole because seriously, you think she’s qualified? I don’t know how you can 1)hear her talk, 2)watch her stumble, 3)know her slim background and not be more than a little enraged. How stupid is America supposed to be, and how is McCain/Palin leading in the polls right now? How stupid is America, I guess.

I am having FallPlans again, of course involving Downsizing Stuff. The good part is is that with the recent move (3 months is still recent, right?) there are Things still in boxes which can probably be transported directly to [consignment, goodwill, craigslist, curb] and other Things in closets which can meet a similar demise. FallPlans also include the puppy who is a bundle of energy and mostly delight, although she did discover an escape route from the yard which is… disheartening. I don’t think she could really be alone in the yard anyway, what with all of the potted and grounded plants she wants to eat, as well as the hazardous and probably highly tempting pond. I envision a great green expanse for her that would really be perfect, with a tree or two for shade and no more than that. Our rented backyard is fussy and will trip you on last-of-the-night/first-of-the-morning visits, especially the step that recently decided to undo itself.

Tomorrow Indigo Girls show in B-more, as well as lunchlunchlunch out. should be a good day, and also include lots of PuppyPlay. Stay smart (or something), internets.

Oh wow, Memorial Day Weekend is here all ready, and instead of going out with flying colors tonight I’m being responsible, starting to sort through Things to Move or Not Move. That’s right, the move is coming- only about 30 miles, into a sweet house which should be awesome. Everyone is helping, thank god, otherwise it would be impossible without $$$. Seriously though, I am trucking along without much change, in fact with very little in the way of change, and even less in the way of ‘news’. Dear Blog, maybe someday we’ll get back together, or really I guess start at all, but until then, you’re kind of like a shameful secret. Not as shameful a secret, I guess, as some people have, I mean, dear blog, you are not as secret as I sometimes pretend you are, but that’s ok. I don’t think there’s much out here on the intarwebs for me to regret, at the very least nothing that someone else wouldn’t regret more, and that is a good thing.

I’m not one for a lot of thought and reflection right now, I guess. Life right now is loud and occasionally fast, sometimes awkward, I think if life were a sitcom right now there would be maybe 13 decent episodes over the past year, but probably wouldn’t be picked up for a second season because really, the audience will say, really, will it change. And the answer might be no, there might be no character development or casting changes for a while, there’s not much tension in the foreseeable future, and who’s to say any tension would be good sitcom tension anyway, rife with humor and tightly managed, wrapped up at the end of the timeslot, and not just horrible horrible clichéd tension that continues arcing over seasons.

Downer! Sorry, blog. OK I’m off! to be organized! Then, to watch Indiana Jones!

Sooo hello, it’s been a month? Wow. Hm, I last bloggered about Brawl and how awesome it is, maybe I will relearn its awesomeness in a bit because lately I have been playing Rock Band. Aww yeah, thank you IRS the refund check came in and I decided to spend a percentage of it on a 360 and Rock Band! Maybe not the most responsible choice, but it is what it is (…and it’s pretty much worth it). Other new things, you ask? Well, I bought my Bonnaroo ticket so I’m tripleexcited, am probably going to buy a new cooler, have to figure out a drivingPlan down there, and honestly YES BONNAROO.

Today is not devoted to coherency- I got up at 3:15am to take AB to the airport so she can go home this weekend, and then went to work from like 5-3:30p. Then I came home and VEGETATED because I’m tired.

I’m trying to be a calmer/better driver, trying not to speedspeedspeed, maybe just ‘speed’ singly. Or really I’m just trying to mellow out my head during commutes so I don’t get all twitchy for like 2 hours a day. This weekend has goals, which include: finishing laundry, finishing the book I’m working on (A Short History of Nearly Everything), videogames, going outside, working out, and maybe watching all of the Kevin Smith movies because that is what is probably going to happen.

Dudes I bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Sunday, which is seriously a pretty rad game. I haven’t had a lot of time to play it, and seriously the online bit with non-friends is more than a bit broken, but omg once I got online tonight it was pure fun….. Also, I’m a fan of the spectator games! I like betting, last night while I folded laundry I bet on matches for about an hour. Tonight I finally managed to get in to an actual online match, since none of my friends have received Brawl yet, and it was pretty much all that it could be. Too bad I have class again tomorrow, which basically means no brawlin or subspace emissary for quite a while.

Other than my video game habits (which I may try to monetize shortly? More info on that after this week, probably, pending a lack of doom and gloom), the last week or so has basically been consumed w/AB’s bDay, the surprise visit for that (which went amazingly well!), and honestly a crapton of work. Srsly. So far, I think I’ve worked about 20 hours so far this week? WHEE. Honestly I should probably aim for a crapton more hours, but schooooool is getting stressy right now.

Looking for the move: who wants to find a place that is awesome in maybe dc, or silver spring, or takoma park? that is where AB and I are looking (failure so far), prefer to move in June1, our lease is up June15 (and we want to Bonnaroo right before so pls June1!!!)… Also looking for probably veggie recipes, on account of snagging a CSA share for the summer! Yay we won a)local b)fresh c)organic veggies!!!
